In 2019, for our final semester project at university, I decided to focus my creative efforts on modern burials and their potential to foster a more sustainable future while improving how we relate to those who have passed on.

The concept revolved around a biodegradable cemetery that utilized innovative technology to place bodies in tree-like pods, symbolizing the womb as the starting point of life. These pods would act as the foundation for trees to grow in the Greenyard.

The project wasn't just about sustainability; it was about providing people of all beliefs and backgrounds with a meaningful alternative to traditional burials or cremation, encouraging a deeper connection to the cycle of life.

In a world that’s always on the go, we brought a moment of calm to bustling spaces.

We created greenyard relaxation pods, strategically placed in high-traffic areas such as CBDs and airports. These pods offered a serene environment where individuals could pause, unwind, and connect with the essence of a Greenyard through noise cancellation and nature ambience.

To give people an even better sense of how our biodegradable cemeteries would look and feel, we turned Melbourne’s popular parks into immersive teasers for The Greenyard. We installed crafted memorial-style plaques throughout these parks, each inscribed with poetic messages that celebrated the essence of a passed individual.
